Hair
The technique used on the hair is easy to execute.

• The clay tubes brush with brush mod set high (80). This helps capture the full range of the alpha.

• Select a spherical gradient alpha (#35).

• Create a number of interlocking comma (,) shapes. These are the curls of the hair.

• Switch to ZSub. With a small brush carve out the hollows of the curls and make sharp transitions between curls.

• Make small brush strokes along the length of the curls to suggest clusters of fibers.
Cloth
This model has a pretty important cloth element that we need to address. The starting point for the cloth was just like the starting point for the figure: a very low-resolution model that captures the major topology of the form.

Here I began with a base mesh of only 112 polygons. Humble beginnings indeed!

[This movie shows sculpting the cloth.]

The sculpture is not a slavish copy of the reference but takes the major features and intentions of the cloth and improvises in certain areas.

Clay tubes, Standard, Pinch and Smooth.
