For this demo I started from an young male scanned head. I started with a general idea of a demon focusing on how the horns interact with the direction. With that in mind, I then showed how to create a VDM (vector displacement map) of a horn to use, along with how you might bring in a horn to kitbash together. Bringing in those horns to help decide what type of demon he would be, I then added a few spheres to create the eyes and teeth. After concentrating on having the eye flow around the design and giving areas of rest, I slowly built up the base forms before filling out the secondary details of the concept. When I was happy with the direction, I then added the detail using alphas to bring the individual layers together, and finalize the character. After sculpting, I went into poly-paint using a dark umber/red tone to create the base color, and then slowly added lighter values to bring out the areas of interest. For the final details, I did a quick walk-through on how to pose the character to bring a little more life to the design. A few issues cropped up while posing, but showed how you might do a work around for your final piece.
