For this demo I started from a female scanned head, adding a horseshoe shell that I created to kit-bash together. Looking at the design elements from the shell, I brought in forms and flow to the creature. After creating the character, I went into poly-painting using spotlight to grab color and details from a reference image of a horseshoe crab. Finalizing details by painting and blending color between the kit-bashed elements to unify the end design.
